Uzbekistan Light Industry Co., Ltd. announced a new development plan a few days ago. On the basis of summing up the achievements of last year, it laid down the next development goals and plans for the textile and garment industry.

Uzbekistan Light Industry Co., Ltd. formerly known as Ukrainian Ministry of Light Industry, the company's current nearly 300 companies, most of the textile and garment companies are members of Ukraine. According to the document on the “Outline for the Protection of Structural Reform, Modernization, and Diversification of Production from 2015 to 2019” signed by the Ukrainian President Karimov in March of last year, the Ukrainian Textile Industry Co., Ltd. is responsible for the reform of textile and garment manufacturing enterprises. At present, the reform of the textile and clothing industry, which focuses on production modernization and technological upgrading, has achieved initial success. The added value of the products of many companies under the company has increased significantly. According to statistics, the output value of the company's subsidiaries in the field of textile and apparel products exceeded 3 trillion yuan (about 6.86 billion yuan) in the last year.

At present, actively expanding overseas markets is one of the key strategies of Wujian Light Industry Co., Ltd. In 2015, the company’s total exports exceeded US$1 billion, the number of companies with export business reached 254, accounting for 89% of the total number of subsidiaries of the company, and textile and apparel products were sold to 55 countries. In order to diversify the external sales market and broaden the range of export products, many companies have participated in international trade fairs held in China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, South Korea, and Germany. Last year, the newly expanded sales market includes Colombia, Brazil, El Salvador, Pakistan, Georgia, Croatia and Nigeria.

In addition, Wuqing Light Industry Co., Ltd. also vigorously attracts foreign investment and opens new-type joint ventures to expand production. In 2015, the textile and apparel industry attracted foreign investment of 187 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 2.7% from 2014. Thirty-three new enterprises were put into operation, creating 125,000 new jobs.

In 2016, Wuqing Light Industry Co., Ltd. will focus on increasing exports, attracting foreign investment and expanding production of high-value-added products. According to the plan, by the end of 2016, the export volume will be increased to US$1.1 billion, 32 investment projects will be implemented, and under this framework, 24 new enterprises will be established to complete the modernization of the eight companies and plans to create 12,700 jobs.
